Dear Friends – LGBT+ Christians from the Progetto Gionata, Faith and Rainbow Foundation is Polish Christian LGBT+ organisation, participating with you in European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups.
Today, we would like to thank you in a very special way for organizing every year prayers and vigils throughout Europe, on the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia – IDAHOBIT, celebrated on May 17.
Thanks to your inspiration, we’ve been gathering in May for an ecumenical service on the occasion of IDAHOBIT for last 7 years. It is celebrated in the St. Martin of the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish in Krakow, at 58 Grodzka Street. It is a service open for everyone. Pastors and parishioners are our hosts.
Every year Faith and the Rainbow takes part in the preparation of this service, which is a unique public religious event in Poland. Recordings from the recent years are available online. We pray for victims of homophobia, biphobia and
transphobia. We are asking for the openness of Churches and societies to LGBT+ people, for acknowledging such people as well as their relationships, marriages, families and their children. We pray for the termination of discrimination and persecution, for safety, legal protection and education. We always read the passage you chose from the
Bible.
This year it is from Epistle to the Galatians 3:28: There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither slave nor freeman, there can be neither male nor female – for you are all one in Christ Jesus. We join in prayer with you and with all LGBT+ Christians and their loved ones and their allies.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, our rainbow service is on-line only.
We pray for you and for your country – Italy, so tragically affected by a pandemic. We pray for LGBT+ people who, due to isolation in their homes, much more often than before experience misunderstanding and violence from their families. We pray for the conversion of those in power who are introducing at this very time laws discriminating LGBT+ citizens. We, LGBT+ people, provide all kinds of services during the fight against pandemics.
We work in all professions, we work in various NGOs and charities. As LGBT+ Christians around the world, we pray for all people – for God’s protection, health, mutual love and goodness. We entrust to God all dying people.
